Recognize yourself
This sculpture project introduces a much more figurative proposition than usual into my practice. An assembly of polygonal mirror facets constructs a fairly faithful representation of a dog. It looks like a greyhound stretching out its paw. The sculpture is placed in front of a large square mirror (six feet on each side). The mirror dog seems to be looking at itself in the mirror, creating a mise en abyme.
The choice to reproduce the image of a dog evokes human behavior. I did not want to refer to the idea of instinct, but rather to that of an animal so domesticated that it reproduces the attitude of its masters.
